Please come to our concert which is part of Winchelsea Art. The programme is a rich and vibrant selection madrigals by Byrd, Weelkes and their contemporaries to commemorate the 400th anniversary of their deaths alongside a range of folk songs from the British Isles and beyond, as well as lively arrangements of spirituals from across the Atlantic. Themes of angels and fantastic spirits abound, alongside doleful laments and playful love in equal measure. The concert forms part of the ‘Winchelsea Arts’ series. The intimate church also lays claim to having Spike Milligan’s grave in its grounds, and the beautitful quintessential East Sussex village and nearby Rye both merit trips in their own right.
