We are delighted to have been chosen to perform at the Barnes Music Festival in a rich and varied concert that launches the year-long Stephen Dodgson International Choral Project ahead of the composer’s anniversary in 2024. The performance includes several world premieres with accompaniment including flute and harp soloists, and sets poetry by John Clare, Mary Coleridge and Ronald Fletcher among others, touching on the festival’s themes of the environment and nature.

The concert will be followed by a short informal drinks reception.

Stephen Dodgson

Stephen Dodgson was a composer of great breadth, his style ranging from from angularly playful to movingly evocative, with recent recordings by Ailish Tynan, Roderick Williams, James Gilchrist, Tippett Quartet and Magnard Ensemble. He was particularly known for his works for guitar (with commissions from John Williams and Julian Bream) but had a prolific output across many idioms including a wealth of choral music, with performances and recordings by The King’s Singers, BBC Singers and King’s College Cambridge among others.

And the International Choral Project will engage with choirs at all levels around the globe, and provide free resources and support to help discover this treasure trove.
