We return to this beautiful church in the heart of London for a late-afternoon concert meditating on the themes of love and of immortal fire.
The centrepiece is Benjamin Britten’s Hymn to St Cecilia, the patron saint of musicians:
Blessed Cecilia, appear in visions
To all musicians, appear and inspire
Translated Daughter, come down and startle
Composing mortals with immortal fire.
The programme also includes beautiful works spanning the Renaissance to the present day including Byrd, Clemens non Papa, Esenvalds and Tippett.
There will be a retiring collection.
