In an hour-long concert which we now dedicate to our late Queen, Pegasus present a programme that reflects upon life and departed loved ones.
We will be singing Parry’s sumptuously moving Songs of Farewell, as well as two settings of Beati Quorum Via (‘Blessed are those whose life is full of integrity and uprightness, who walk in the law of the Lord’ – words so fitting for Queen Elizabeth II) by Stanford and Janet Wheeler, Vaughan Williams’ contribution to ‘A Garland for a Queen’ (the collection written to celebrate the Queen’s coronation in 1952) – Silence and Music – and Judith Bingham’s beautifully and eerily evocative The Drowned Lovers, which segues into the perfect and peaceful gem that is Stanford’s The Blue Bird.
Programme
Stanford: Beati Quorum Via
Wheeler: Beati Quorum Via
Vaughan Williams: Silence and Music
Bingham: The Drowned Lovers
