Pegasus honours the choral genius of William Byrd and marks the 400th anniversary of his death with some of the finest motets from his rich ‘Cantiones Sacrae’ collections – literally ‘sacred songs’. Alongside music by Thomas Weelkes, who shares Byrd’s 400th anniversary this year and Judith Weir, who set vivid and thoughtful texts by Byrd’s contemporaries, George Herbert and Thomas Nashe.
